Farms Forever

Through Farms Forever, SEMAP serves current & entering farmers and landowners. Farms Forever is a local, on-the-ground partner helping farms throughout Southeastern Massachusetts take action on transfer planning by providing a first point of inquiry; connecting farmers to partners and resources, and serving as a central point for ongoing follow-up.
The goal of the Farms Forever program is to sustain working farmlands, not just preserved land, and to enable new and next-generation producers to farm in our region through more effective farmland transfer and tenure arrangements.
Farms Forever is committed to being a resource and advocate for the Southeastern Massachusetts farming community by providing support and technical assistance to farmers, entering farmers and landowners.
The Farms Forever program focuses on the long-term future of our local agricultural lands. Whether a transfer plan keeps a farm in the family, passes the farm to a new operator, or combines the two options, the focus is on the future of farms. Farms Forever also works with entering farmers to find land to work, as either a landowner or tenant; and Farms Forever assists landowners who want their acreage to be in active farming. Farms Forever wants to help area farmers find the solution that fits their personal circumstances.
Katie Cavanagh is the Farms Forever Coordinator and a tenth generation family farmer in Easton, MA. You can reach Katie at (774) 240-7004 or by email at: kcavanagh@semaponline.org.
