Osamequin Farm:
Our mission is to share the historic land of Osamequin Farm by hosting a cooperative of small scale farmers, public gatherings, and educational opportunities for our community. All of our work is a direct reflection of our guiding values of cooperation, collaboration and stewardship. From our organically-raised berries and cut flowers to the heritage breed livestock who help us maintain the land, to the programs that enable our Seekonk neighbors and the greater Providence community to share in the abundance and beauty of the fields, forest and marshes – we take seriously our responsibility as stewards to conserve and protect the land in our care.
A little bit about each grower we’ll be chatting with!
Sarah – Sarah is the founding director of Osamequin Farm, an educational working farm and cooperative land use project in Seekonk MA, Pokanoket territory. OF was founded in 2018 with a mission to share the historic conservation land that we’re fortunate to steward, and since then we’ve been building our connections in the community, learning about the several hundred acres of conservation land, and setting up infrastructure and resources for the Resident Farmer program. In 2025, we have 9 Resident Farmers in the program, with plots ranging in scale from 1/4 to 4 acres.
Sasha – Sasha runs Hocus Pocus Farm, a queer owned and operated farm that is part of the Resident Farmer program. HPF grows chemical-free vegetables, flowers, and herbs on one acre of land, and sells produce through a CSA model, wholesale through Farm Fresh’s Market Mobile, and at Osamequin’s farm stand. They use low-till methods, and are committed to maintaining soil health and biodiversity. hocuspocusfarm.com
Cata – Cata runs Apapacho Bloom, a family operated flower farm on 1/4 acre of land at Osamequin Farm, selling seasonal blooms through a CSA and at local outlets such as White Electric Coffee in Providence. Cata also manages Granja Sin Fronteras. The Granja Sin Fronteras consists of five immigrant families and community members who grew up working the land before moving to Providence, RI and want to maintain their connection with the land through agriculture while offering garden plots, herbs, vegetables, and a communal space to interested people in our community who don’t have access to land. “As a group we know that families do not have borders, in fact, many of our families are split across borders. We believe that migration is a human right and we are motivated to work for the well-being of our community.” apapachobloomfarm.com
Beth – Beth runs Outer Spaces, an ecological landscaping company based in Providence, RI and at Osamequin Farm. They propagate plants, mainly natives and mainly from seed, for about 20 sites in RI and MA (including the entrance to Osamequin), and for billions of organisms who rely on these plants for food, water, shelter, climate control, etc etc etc, and who further propagate the plants.
Liying – Liying Peng, owner of P&L Bayside Apiaries, has been keeping bees for 11 years and manages hives throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. As one of the region’s leading local queen breeders and bee suppliers, Liying is a strong advocate for sustainable beekeeping. https://www.baysideapiaries.com
Young Farmer Network
The Young Farmer Network (YFN) connects farmers, aspiring farmers, and farm allies from all social, racial, and economic backgrounds. Our mission is to create an environment within which people of all ages and agricultural backgrounds can cultivate personal and professional relationships across state borders. We work towards a supportive landscape for farmers and prospective farmers in developing socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable farm businesses and fulfilling lives.
SEMAP
SEMAP is a Buy Local organization for Southeastern Massachusetts. The mission of SEMAP is to further a regional food system that is equitable, resilient and accessible. We envision a healthy region where local food is available in abundance, farmers lead thriving and successful businesses and lives, and our regional food economy is robust and supports all of our local food producers. We offer 1-on-1 assistance for farmers and fishers, workshops, an annual conference, and promotion of local food to consumers.
