Introduction to Ethical Seed Farming
May 14 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Entitled “Introduction to Ethical Seed Farming,” the 2025 The Ira Wallace Seed School class will take place online from May 2025 to November 2025. With Amirah Mitchell and Reggie Blackwood facilitating, students will work with an impressive roster of guest instructors (most from the list above) to cover both practical topics — including crop planning, pest management, seed harvesting and processing, and biodiversity conservation — and ethics-related topics like global seed policy, the history of BIPOC led cooperatives, issues around land tenure, and indigenous seed knowledge, practices, and sovereignty. Mama Ira and others will serve as mentors for students, making themselves available for regular Q&A sessions throughout the course.
