Medway Community Farm Hiring Growers
Medway Community Farm is a non-profit farm with a busy farming operation and with robust educational programming. The farm cultivates seven acres of non-contiguous land using organic growing methods to provide veggies for a CSA program, on-site farm stand, local farmers markets, and wholesale accounts. MCF is connected with Medway schools providing in-school programming for second and third graders, and on-farm programming for fourth graders. During the season, the farm operates a summer program where kids can continue their nature-based education. In addition, we offer several community events that allow our continued commitment to the communities the farm serves.
We’re seeking growers for our full time, seasonal positions. Our growers work closely with the Farm Manager and other crew members assisting in all aspects of vegetable production from seeding to harvesting to direct sales. Responsibilities will include greenhouse chores, harvesting, and washing, tending the farmstand, all manner of handwork from rock picking to hoeing, setting up and breaking down farmers markets, interacting with kids and the public.
We’re seeking people who are easy to laugh, friendly and encouraging, who can roll with the ever-changing season, who can follow instructions accomplishing tasks either alone or as part of the crew, and love to be outside no matter the weather. Previous farm work is certainly a plus, happy to discuss the positions with first-time farmers. For those who have experience or who’d like to be a part of the team for more than one season, we like to promote from within and give more responsibilities to those who are looking at farming as a career.
Compensation is commensurate with experience ranging from $10 to $13 an hour, and includes a full share of produce, paid participation in the EMass CRAFT sessions held every other Wednesday, discounts in the farmstand, and eggs from our chickens. The positions run from March to November.
If you’re interested in working with a community farm dedicated to education and its local and greater communities, we’d love to hear from you! Please send a cover letter and resume to Seth Terramane at email@example.com
