Zeigler’s Market Garden is a small scale vegetable farm in Norfolk, MA run by Zachary Zeigler and Sarah Visnick. They grow year round on three separate locations in town that total just under 3 acres of growing space. The garden grows produce for three farmers markets during the summer season, and one winter farmers market. They strive to grow delicious seasonal produce using organic methods while helping to strengthen the local food community in our area.
The CRAFT visit will include a tour of their propagation greenhouse, wash station, produce cooler, and a field walk of their main growing site and the 30×90 high tunnel and caterpillar tunnels. 2023 will be their seventh year farming, and we will discuss the successes and challenges we have found along the way. Discussion will focus on their growing practices, crop selection, bed preparation, use of walk behind tractors and other small scale market gardening tools. They will also touch on our experiences with finding and leasing land from local landowners and our season extension practices that allow us to grow during the winter. A potluck and campfire will be held after the tour.
