The Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) believes that local agriculture is essential to the health and vitality of our community and our economy. We provide assistance to farmers, educate the community on the importance of local agriculture, work to increase the functionality of our region’s food system, and connect all people to local food. Our efforts focus on agricultural land preservation & expansion, education & technical assistance, and healthy local food access. 2018 SEMAP Outreach Intern
Rate: $12/hr
Hours: 10-15 hour/week, flexible, for 8-12 weeks or longer for the right applicant
Reports to: Executive Director & Outreach Coordinator
Description: The Outreach Intern will assist with disseminating SEMAP materials and setting up informational tables at events throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
Responsibilities:
– Provide Local Food Guides, posters, and bumper stickers to area farms, farmers markets, community events, etc.
– Set up informational SEMAP table at fairs, festivals, farmers markets, and other local events, educating attendees about the benefits of local food, where to buy it, and SEMAP’s educational offerings
– Maintain and replenish a supply of outreach materials
Requirements:
– Passionate about local food, the environment, and sustainability (and desire to share this passion with the community!)
– Valid driver’s license
– Reliable transportation
– Positive attitude
– High School Diploma
