Powisset Farm, located in Dover, Massachusetts and a property of the Trustees, is seeking Farm Crew for the 2017 growing season. We are looking for responsible, hard-working and enthusiastic people with whom to share the challenges and rewards of growing healthy food and a sustainable community.
Who We Are:
Using organic methods (although not certified), we manage a diverse vegetable operation that produces food for a 400-member summer CSA, a 100-member winter CSA, an on-site farm stand, wholesale, mobile market, and our food donation partners.
We are seeking people who are excited about sustainable farming and eager to take on the wide-range of responsibilities associated with running a fast-paced, public and busy production farm. This includes: assisting with crop production, greenhouse work, field preparations and tillage, hand and tractor cultivation, harvest and distribution, and working with groups and volunteers. You will also be expected to participate in and help run farm events throughout the season.

Summary of Position:
Powisset Farm Field Crew assists with the core functions of CSA production. Field crew members transplant, weed, trellis tomatoes, and harvest crops. They assist in other farm duties on an as needed basis.

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- This is an entry level position. Farm experience is not necessary for this position.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience playing team sports and/or working outside a plus
Skills/Qualifications:
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to do repetitive work
- Positive attitude and good sense of humor
Other:
- Valid driver’s license required
- CORI background check required
Schedule:
We have two field crew schedules. The hours are Monday – Friday 8 am – 4 pm. Starting May 1st and ending October 15th or Monday – Friday 8 am – 4 pm starting May 15th and ending September 15th. An extended season or additional hours may be available for the right candidate. Compensation based on experience
Working Conditions:
Reports to CSA Manager and Assistant Manager
Must be able to work in variable outdoor weather conditions
Ability to lift 40 pounds required
