Now is the perfect time to join your local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)!
What is a CSA?
A CSA is a win-win arrangement where customers purchase a “share” from a farm and receive a weekly amount of local, fresh goods during the growing season. Usually CSA customers pay up front at the beginning of the season to lock in their access to the local goods and any special discounts or other perks the farm offers.
Paying up front allows the farmer to plan for the season ahead and provides a boost of income during a slower time of year.
CSA customers often get the best of what a farm has to offer, the security of knowing their weekly produce or flowers are secured, and often some additional insider perks.
What do I get?
Depending on the farm, CSA shares can include vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, flowers and more! Some farms partner with other local businesses to provide add-ons such as bread or even ice cream! Most farms offer different sizes and formats for their weekly share, so you can decide what works best for you.
