2023 Rhode Island Women in Agriculture Conference

The RI Women in Ag conference is an educational event designed to share the numerous opportunities available to women currently in farming and to women considering farming as a career. The goal is to ensure that the next generation of women is educated, encouraged and empowered to take on the challenges of meeting the world’s growing food, fuel and fiber needs.

The conference not only provides a fabulous opportunity for networking with agricultural providers and producers in the tri-state area, but for 2023 will also feature Joel Salatin as our keynote speaker. Joel co-owns Polyface Farm in Swoope, Virginia with his family. Featured in the New York Times bestseller Omnivore’s Dilemma and award-winning documentary Food Inc., the farm services more than 5,000 families, 50 restaurants, 10 retail outlets, and a farmers market with salad bar beef, pigaerator pork, pastured poultry, and forestry products. When he’s not on the road speaking, Joel’s at home on the farm, keeping the callouses on his hands and dirt under his fingernails, mentoring young people, inspiring visitors, and promoting local, regenerative food and farming systems.

The day also includes hands-on learning sessions, instructional classes, informative workshops and grant & financing opportunities. Continental breakfast and lunch is included in the registration fee. There will be a special prize drawing for all who bring a non-perishable or canned good to benefit the Rhode Island Food Bank.
