Winter Growing and Season Extension Practices Workshop
December 8, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeFarm owners, Mike and Kelli Roberts, will demonstrate how to grow and cultivate a variety of crops on a year-round basis with the use of unheated, moveable high tunnels and low tunnels. The workshop will focus on winter growing, with a discussion of optimizing planting dates and varieties for the winter, preparation of 30-inch beds, as well as maintaining soil and crop health.
Roots Farm is a 1.3 acre certified organic vegetable farm run by Mike and Kelli Roberts in Tiverton. This diversified farm uses an intensive, year-round growing style with high tunnels that allow for maximum efficiency of the land acreage while making a variety of nutrient-dense crops available throughout the year.
