Join Revive the Roots and Young Farmer Network for the 5th Annual Community Seed Exchange at Mowry Commons. March 8th, 2026 from 12:00-3:00. This is an ALL AGES EVENT. We will be meeting at 374 Farnum Pike, Smithfield RI on the ancestral lands of the Narragansett, Nipmuc, Pokanoket, and Wampanoag people.

What is a seed exchange?

A seed exchange is an event where people come and swap seeds that they have grown or have purchased but have extra of. This is a place to build community & share the history/lineage/stories of the seeds.

What seeds should I bring?

  • Bring vegetable/fruit/nut seeds you've collected, extra seeds from past growing seasons that you never got to plant, or plant clippings. If you don't have seeds, no problem. There will be plenty to share.
  • Here is an example of a seed form if you are bringing seeds that aren't in a packet, you can print this one out (or copy it) and tape it to your seed jars, bags or envelopes you bring.

  • Wondering if your seeds are viable still? Here is a breakdown by FEDCO on how long seeds typically last.
  • If you are brining native plants, please follow this link for more information
Other Items you could bring:
  • We'll be hosting another clothing swap this season! Please only bring washed clothes. Work clothes highly encouraged for all the farmers looking for new duds this season.

Where will this take place?

This event will take place at Mowry Commons, 374 Farnum Pike Smithfield RI. This is an outdoor event held in the community garden greenhouse and under the pavilion. The parking is 100 yards away from where the exchange will take place. Parking is graded and the walk to the event is on a flat grassy area.
