Monday, November 2, 3:00-5:30 p.m.
Farmers Max Traunstein and Lilly Israel will share how they are responding to climate challenges on their farm, with a special focus on a new system of dutch white clover living aisles established across 40 acres of plasticulture production using spring-seeded winter rye as a nurse crop. Participants will see first-year results in the field and hear lessons learned about establishment, management, challenges, and next steps.
The field walk will also highlight additional reduced-tillage practices and equipment investments the farm is exploring through climate adaptation planning assistance from American Farmland Trust and Momentum Ag. Plenty of time will be reserved for farmer-to-farmer discussion and questions.
Seasonal snacks and hot beverages will be provided.
This training is supported by MDAR's Farmland Partnership Program.
