Adopt-a-Seedling at the Marshfield Farmers Market
May 18, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free
The Marshfield Agricultural Commission will hold their popular annual Adopt-a-Seedling event at the Marshfield Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Marshfield Fair Grounds. Commission members start and nurture seedlings using organic materials and methods and then offer them for adoption. This year will feature over twenty-five varieties of tomato plants, mostly hard-to-find heirlooms including cherry, paste, container and slicing tomatoes of many colors and sizes. Other cuttings and seedlings of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruit will include rhubarb, celery, cucumbers, Dinosaur kale, Swiss chard, flowers for shade and sun gardens, several varieties of eggplant, peppers, basil, and much more. New for this year will be sweet potato slips for the vegetable garden and strawberry plants.
Commission members will be available to offer assistance and information. Donations from this fundraiser help support the Commission’s free educational and informational programs regarding agriculture and the right to farm.
