This date is one of two working sessions you can choose from:
Work session 1: Monday, February 22nd, 5:00-7:00pm
Work session 2: Wednesday, February 24th, 1:00-3:00pm
Join a learning community of vegetable farmers, and see how your farm stacks up against your peers.
Financial benchmarks are key to improving long-term farm viability. They can help you:
- Track the financial health of your farm from year to year
- Understand the typical returns from different sales outlets
- Assess how healthy your business is compared to that of similar farms
Since 2016, Franklin Egan of Pasa Sustainable Agriculture has been working with diversified vegetable farmers in and around Pennsylvania to collect key farm financial metrics and develop benchmarks to help farmers evaluate the health of their vegetable operations. We are excited to partner with Pasa this year to establish a new cohort of vegetable farms in our region.
Participating farmers will receive a detailed personalized benchmark report showing how their key financial indicators compare to similar farms. They will also benefit from lessons learned through past benchmarking work with Pennsylvania farmers, and will have the opportunity to connect to a learning community of farmers working to improve their business skills. Your farm’s data will be kept strictly confidential — we’ll only share general trends and insights.
To participate, you must be a vegetable farmer in or around Massachusetts, and you must be able to attend one of the following two work sessions (dates above).
You will be asked to prepare your farm’s 2019 profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and tax return in advance of the work session, and you will use this information to complete a detailed survey about your vegetable operation’s finances during the work session. All participants will have access to one-on-one support as needed to prepare the necessary financial statements and complete the survey.
Contact Kristen Wilmer with any questions, and register early to ensure access to one-on-one support.
To participate, please REGISTER HERE by Friday, February 5th.
