Growing Together: A Celebration of Land Stewardship
May 14, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Root Crew Youth invites you to the final series of Growing Together for the Spring. It will be a wonderful day of Celebrating the Land Stewardship in the community. We will be doing a Land Opening, a DIY Wrap Food Party, Farming Activities, and a Report Back of Dudley Grows this Spring.
Growing Together has been a space for Root Crew youth to bring their skills and knowledge to the community through farming, workshops, and teambuilders. Previous versions included a 3-day learning experience where a cohort of community members would come together and engage in relationship building, food system workshops, community projects, and of course, food creating and sharing! Not only was it a space for youth to practice their facilitation skills, it was a space for community members to learn about what is going on with youth and community programming at the Food Project.
This Spring, Growing Together will have an emphasis on youth-led decision-making and facilitation. The 3 days (4/9, 4/23, 5/14) will be spread out with a specific theme, purpose and audience for the day. The overall purpose is to engage in base-building for Dudley Grows and capacity building for a larger youth summit in the future. As always, there is usually a food activity in creating and sharing. However with COVID-19, which impacts the way we share space on the land, there are also some restrictions to what we can do when it comes to food handling and safety.
We hope to make it really fun, engaging, and powerful as we continue building upon our experiences with intergenerational organizing and community intersections. Below you can find the scheduled agendas for the 3 days. As with farming and climate, things will change and this document will be updated throughout the series. We plan to see you there!
