Mass Farmers Markets Hiring Operations Manager

Mass Farmers Markets (MFM) is hiring a part-time (29 hours/week) leadership staff member for Program and Operations Management. This position coordinates daily, weekly, and monthly operations in partnership with the Executive Director to ensure effective program operations.

Wages – $17.50 to $19 /hour. Hours- flexible.

Programs involved:

MFM managed farmers markets:

Support onsite market managers and SNAP coordinators.
Answer questions for current vendors and potential vendors.
Lead and maintain relationships between nonprofit organizations requesting to table at MFM markets, with market managers.
Receive and update vendor and farmer applications.
Work with onsite managers to process, evaluate, and accept farmers and vendors to the three MFM managed markets.
Update and maintain website.

Market Membership and Liability protection:

Update and distribute Market Membership and Liability Protection renewal/registration forms.
Answer member market questions concerning liability insurance.
Process insurance claims paperwork.
Help plan and implement manager workshops and conferences.

Grants:

Work with ED and other staff to manage grant requirements, reports, and invoicing.

FMNP Coupon Program:

Oversee and support program staff in fulfilling state contract terms.

Administrative:

Oversee and support accounts staff.
Help prepare and distribute materials to BOD and membership.
Provide administrative support prior to and ensure that follow-up and actions items are addressed swiftly following the conclusion of each board meeting.
Work with the Executive Director and BOD to operate the Big E booth and other fundraising activities.

Communications and Outreach:

Prepare, edit, and publish monthly newsletters using Constant Contact.
Help maintain and update website & social media.
Maintain regular contact with member market managers and vendors.
Manage MFM volunteers including recruitment and training.

Customer Service:

Answer phones, filter & direct calls, and take messages accurately.
Respond to email and phone inquiries from general public.
Interpret MFM policies, rules, and procedures skillfully.
Using judgment, tact and sensitivity manage public compliments, complaints and inquiries regarding MFM functions, programs, and policy.

Qualifications:

Must be proficient with MS Suite.
Experience with Quickbooks and Adobe Acrobat helpful.
Technical savvy troubleshooting typical office equipment, hardware and software.
Strong customer service skill and ethic.
Ability to work independently and with a team, prioritize tasks, provide excellent time management, and critical thinking.
Have a good sense of humor.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to fluctuation and interruptions in work
Ability to maintain confidential information appropriately.
Graphic design skills, conflict resolution experience, and familiarity with Massachusetts agriculture a plus.
