Cape Cod Organic Farm Hiring – 2 Positions

Full Time Assistant Farm Manager: Cape Cod Organic Farm is looking for a full-time Assistant Farm Manager at our Farm in Barnstable, MA. Applicants with a strong passion for organic agriculture and experience on farms with tractor skills are necessary. Superior work ethic is required! Our farm runs a 75 member vegetable CSA, delivers to restaurants and raise Heritage Breed Pigs. Our farm operates a farm stand 7 days a week in high season and attends several farmers markets.This position is paid weekly and will commensurate with experience.
Daily/Weekly Tasks to include: Greenhouse tasks of seeding, watering and potting-up Transplanting, weeding, thinning, & harvesting Post-harvest sorting, washing, bunching, quality control, and packing/storage responsibilities Deliveries of produce to restaurants on occasion Assisting with irrigation and tillage tractor work Assisting with daily feeding, watering, setting up and moving portable fencing for pigs.
An ideal candidate will have/be able to:

  • Ability to follow directions and self-motivate
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Experience with crop planning and rotation
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and neat appearance while in the farm stand
  • Ability to work under challenging ergonomic conditions, including work that requires frequent crouching, bending and kneeling
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds or more
  • Own transportation and a place to live (this position does not offer housing)
  • An eagerness to learn!

CSA Coordinator & Floriculture Specialist: Cape Cod Organic Farm is looking for a full-time Community Supported Agriculture Coordinator & Floriculture person at our Farm in Barnstable, MA. Applicants with a strong passion for organic agriculture necessary. Superior work ethic is required! Experience with Perennial flowers and herbs also necessary. Our farm runs a 75 member vegetable CSA, delivers to restaurants and raises Heritage Breed Pigs. Our farm operates a farm stand 7 days a week in high season and attends several farmers markets.This position is paid weekly and pay will commensurate with experience. Hours will vary depending on the day.

Daily/Weekly Tasks to include: Greenhouse tasks of seeding, watering and potting-up when needed Corresponding weekly with CSA members via email, sharing recipes Packing CSA share boxes with produce Transplanting, weeding, thinning, & harvesting when needed Post-harvest sorting, washing, bunching, quality control, and packing/storage responsibilities Farm stand responsibilities include: setting up produce and cash register, running daily totals logs, restocking and cleaning farm-stand Maintaining social media and website Checking farm email and respond accordingly, answering farm telephone Assisting the farm owner with clerical office tasks

An ideal candidate will have/be able to:

  • Ability to follow directions and self-motivate
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Knowledge of produce, interest in preparation of produce/pork to share with customers in the farm stand and CSA members. Each week CSA members are emailed 3-5 recipes along with their share.
  • Ability to multi-task, good phone etiquette
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and neat appearance while in the farm stand
  • Ability to work under challenging ergonomic conditions, including work that requires frequent crouching, bending and kneeling.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds or more
  • Own transportation and a place to live (this position does not offer housing)
