A Message from the Board of Directors

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!  We are reaching out today to update you on some exciting news happening at SEMAP.  In the last couple of years, SEMAP has been regrouping and reenergizing under the steadfast leadership of Executive Director, Karen Schwalbe.  Karen has done an outstanding job of supporting SEMAP’s mission, expanding programs, and securing funding.  It is for these reasons that we are reaching out to all of you, our greatest supporters, for help as we move into the new year.

In 2018, we will be focused on expanding our foundation through the implementation of several subcommittees. The subcommittees will be charged with different tasks, some of the committees are long term while others are for shorter, specific time frames.  As a supporter and member of SEMAP, the subcommittees are a perfect opportunity for individuals to help out with the continued positive growth of the organization.

Each of the following subcommittees will be chaired by a member of the board of directors. The chair will outline the structure and the meeting schedules then report back to the officers and the Board of Directors. The ultimate goal of our subcommittees is to help support the staff of SEMAP as we move into a stronger and more vibrant position in the next few years.

Please take a moment and review the following new subcommittees. If one of them sparks an interest, please reach to either Karen Schwalbe or Todd Sandstrum, our Board President.

New SEMAP Subcommittees:

Policies and Procedures  This committee runs for up to six months, from March through August

Nomination  Runs from August to December and will work to build out new personnel leads for board members and subcommittees.

Education  Assists with coordinating Twilights and other educational events, with an additional subcommittee for the Ag and Food Conference. Committee runs from October-March

Tie Grant  Runs from October to March

Farm to Tapas  Runs from January to July

Development/Membership  Runs year-round, meeting as needed.

Remember, it’s through the engagement of supporters like you that we can continue to assist the public and our farmers in Bristol, Plymouth, and Norfolk Counties.

Sincerely,
Todd Sandstrum
Board President
