Soule Homestead Hiring Education Coordinator

Position: Education Coordinator; Year Round, Part-time, average of 30 hours per week.

About us: The Soule Homestead Education Center is a 501 (c)(3) not for profit organization that is currently in its 26 year in operation. Our mission is to preserve and enhance the historic Soule Homestead and utilize it as a place for hands-on, farm-based learning experiences for children and families, passive recreation and also create community through our traditional craft workshops and our cultural events.

About the position: We are looking for a person with a passion for agriculture, spending time outside and connecting children and families to these values. This person will be an important part of a small but enthusiastic staff team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education Coordinator will play a key role at Soule Homestead Education Center.

Some specific duties are listed below:
-Work with Executive Director and Administrative Assistant and volunteers to create and deliver high quality educational programs that connect children and families to Soule Homestead. Curriculum development and on-going planning are an important part of this position. Candidate must be comfortable with public speaking and managing both large and small group programs.
-Successfully communicate with parents, teachers, homeschool groups, scout groups and general public to book programs that meet expectations.
-Coordinate, train and support volunteers to work as part of your educational programs.
-Assisting with other duties that could arise including large scale special events, property maintenance and admin support.
-Willing to attend conferences and trainings in order to network, learn new trends in the field and constantly improve.

Qualifications: A successful candidate for this position is a team player and has considerable experience working with children, families and the general public. This position requires some unique skills including the ability to work outside in a wide range of weather conditions, a comfort with agriculture including farm animals (more training will be provided), a flexible attitude about working in a rapidly changing environment. A serious commitment to providing a top notch experience for our visitors and for working with a diverse audience of people. You must be able to lift 50lbs. and be able to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition for employment. Access to a vehicle is also needed as some programs are delivered off site.

Compensation: This is a year-round, part-time position that averages 30 hours of work per week. We will pay an hourly rate based on experience.
