BCC Announces Open Enrollment for 3 Courses in Sustainable Agriculture

Bristol Community College in Fall River announces open enrollment in the following courses for the Winter/Spring 2018 semester. Senior citizens (60+) and veterans may be eligible for a waiver of tuition for credit courses. AGR 115 Sustainable Agriculture II

This course is designed for gardeners, farmers, landscapers, community organizations, and concerned citizens.  We will cover farm management (planning, records, & budgeting), plant propagation, season extension, and crop cultivation. Tues. 9:00–11:40 am (lect) & Thurs. 9:00-10:50 am (lab)

AGR 116 Water Acquisition & Conservation

This course is designed to give students an understanding of the science of water, including its chemistry, its movements in the environment, and its use in agriculture. The course introduces students to traditional and alternative ways of accessing water for agricultural use, as well as methods to conserve this most precious resource.  Wed. 9:30 – 11:10 am.

AGR 122 Natural Beekeeping Practices

Beginning beekeeping principles & practices for hobbyists, gardeners, farmers, and commercial beekeepers.  We will cover bee biology, starting and maintaining a beehive, economics of beekeeping, harvesting & using bee products.   Mondays 6:00-8:50 pm  (classes run 7 weeks, Feb. 5.-April).
